About Wally

It’s rare for anyone to get an hour to explore their wellness goals with a trained professional. As an Integrative Nutrition* Health Coach, I create a supportive environment that enables you to articulate and achieve your goals. Throughout my education, I have been exposed to the most cutting-edge dietary theories and studied highly effective coaching techniques to help you find the right lifestyle that works best for you.

Additionally, I have personally overcome and conquered obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, lymphedema, urticaria, arthritis, sleep apnea and many other adverse health conditions. I lost over 220 pounds, have kept it off for over 10 years and reversed the adverse conditions. You see, I know what it’s like to be in your shoes. I know what you are going through. Who better to coach you than someone who faced the challenges you have and has beaten them.

Why Wally

Most approaches to healthy eating dwell on calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, I coach my clients to explore basic improvements and implement gradual changes during our work together. As these pieces accumulate, my clients find these changes collectively creating a much larger impact than they originally anticipated. We work on what they want to improve within the circumstances of their unique situation.

“Prior to meeting Wally, I was that proverbial “heart attack waiting to happen” guy. I was a typical
meat and potato guy, overweight, diabetic (Type II), constant joint pain/inflammation, gout attacks, high cholesterol and triglycerides (even on meds, and high blood pressure (controlled by meds).

Working with Wally these past 6 months, I switched to a plant-based diet. I had just begun looking into it prior to working with Wally, but I wasn’t 100% on board at the time; now it’s my lifestyle. I’ve managed to keep my blood pressure in the normal range now without medication (last reading 122/72) and cut my glucose medication by half (working on eliminating that) while lowering my glucose readings by 30 points. I’ve lost over 20 lbs. on top of the 10 initially lost and rarely have any inflammation issues.

Over the years I’ve been told numerous times by several doctors that I’ll probably have to take meds the rest of my life. With Wally’s help, my latest triglyceride blood work came in at 77; I’m in normal range for the 1st time in 17 years! My cholesterol has also dropped over 60 points as well.

I’ve managed to lose weight, improve major health factors, and be a healthier me.

Thanks, Wally, for all your guidance, you’ve truly been a lifesaver.”

“I had the unbelievable privilege of being under Wally’s care and counsel for six months to help with my digestive issues. He is one of the most knowledgeable nutritionists I know. Another added plus was that he was local, so I was able to meet with him face-to-face a few times. I cannot begin to count how many times I contacted him during off-work hours to ask him a question about my condition or a supplement. He always replied with thoughtful answers, often backing up his research with links and educational references for me to delve into. Whenever I felt alone in my journey to health, I found comfort in knowing Wally was a phone call away, that Wally truly cared for me and would always be there to help me.”

“I first consulted with Wally when I couldn’t recover after bike rides. I felt like my usually mild rheumatoid arthritis symptoms were increasing and my energy for daily living was decreasing. When I had to wait months for an appointment to see a medical specialist, I decided to work with Wally in the meantime to do what I could with food to support healing and recovery.

In our initial consultation, Wally pieced together symptoms I never thought were related and gave me a plan that was simple to follow. He warned me it might take weeks or even months to notice a dramatic difference but that I would see small improvements right away. He was RIGHT! Four months later I feel like myself again.

It’s terrific to experience your passion and commitment to help people change their lives for the better with a simple tool we encounter every day – delicious, healthy FOOD!”

“Thank you, Wally, for all your help and direction. I feel so much better. I know I have a long road ahead, but I have come a long way in a short time. It's amazing how much better I feel since following your suggestions and drinking Viveshake.

My digestive system is amazingly better, and I am not as tired as I was 3 months ago. I am close to my goal weight. I feel like a "normal" person! I look forward to living in my new healthier body. It's not been easy, but nothing worth having ever comes easy.

Keep up the good work of helping other people find health and healing. You have been a godsend to me.”

“Wally Bishop taught me so much about nutrition through individual counseling.

Many of the nutrition concepts I've incorporated into my life in the last year have come from Wally. I know that it must make him so happy to see that after three years of telling me all this stuff, I've finally started making changes. It's not easy to stop eating sugar or stop drinking diet coke. Now that my health is improving so is my desire to continue healthy habits.

Thank you, Wally, for the impact you've had on my life and for helping me get healthy again. I still have a way to go, but I'm finally on the right path.”

“Wally has been my nutritional coach for a few years now. When I began training for cycling events and half and full marathons, I realized how important nutrition would be to successful races. This would be a very difficult task because of my dietary restrictions. By employing Wally’s nutritional advice, I was able to complete 3 full marathons in less than 2 months.

I'm now a consistent user of Vive and Vive Ultra Whey. These two products have been huge in my development. I'm happy to say that since I've been using them, I haven't cramped or bonked once.”

“I’m almost 54 years old and stay in pretty good shape by cycling, hiking, and some running. In February 2020, I began training for my first full IRONMAN to be held in September. Before then, I didn’t pay much attention to detail in what I ate. I did not eat horribly – very little fried food, no soft drinks, lean meat, veggies, fruit, eggs, fish. When I started training more regularly, I was dealing with some muscle pain, mostly my calves, and this continued for quite a while.

I was a carnivore and love meat, any meat, and drank probably two gallons of milk a week. After repeated suggestions from my wife, I finally agreed to watch the 2018 documentary “The Game Changers”. Well, the film screwed me up. I thought well, maybe I should try this plant-based diet, for health impact as well as for training. So, in late March, I started playing around with it, but I was playing.

One piece of the puzzle I didn’t have was nutrition and I didn’t want to spend a ton of time in trial and error to figure it out. Further, I wasn’t going to invest 6-7 months in all this physical training only to let something simple like nutrition crash my effort on the big day. So, I decided to find someone that could help me put something together.

I met Wally through cycling and had talked to him a few times about nutrition in general. Wally taught me simple and straightforward ways to manage proper nutrition for every day – off day, training day, race day, any day. I have no patience for meal plans… eat A for breakfast Mon, Wed, Fri and B for lunch Tue and Thu, etc. It’s too complicated for someone on the go or traveling. Wally gives you a simple understanding of what your body needs and what kind of foods give it to you - foods that you can find almost anywhere.

The additional benefit to all of this was that my muscle-aches were dramatically reduced or eliminated, so much more than through consistent training alone. My recovery time after a hard workout or event was noticeably reduced.

I am much healthier, and my body is so much more ready to accept whatever I decide to throw at it. While my IRONMAN in Chattanooga has been postponed to 2021, my training continues.

Thank you, Wally!”

“I was spiraling downhill so fast. I was 30 years old, 372 pounds with uncontrolled diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, bad ulcers, bad back, you name it I had it. I was on so many meds. I was addicted to food and everything I ate was horrible for me!

I reached out to Wally for help. Wally introduced me to Vive shake and taught me the foods I should avoid, and which ones were good for me. I went through detox and he never left me alone in the process. After a while I was feeling better, my stomach was better, and I didn't want to go back!

Wally helped me every step of the way! He never made me feel bad when I had messed up. He helped me stop beating myself up and reminded me to just move on with a fresh start at that moment.

It's been 10 months since I lost 59 pounds and 2 pant sizes. I still have more to lose, but I know I would not have made it this far without Wally! Wally is absolutely amazing. He truly cares and is willing to help anyone! He changed my life and saved it too!”
