As an Integrative Nutrition* Health Coach, I create a supportive environment that enables you to articulate and achieve your goals. Throughout my education, I have been exposed to the most cutting-edge dietary theories and studied highly effective coaching techniques to help you find the right lifestyle that works best for you.
Additionally, I have personally overcome and conquered obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, lymphedema, urticaria, arthritis, sleep apnea and many other adverse health conditions. I lost over 220 pounds, have kept it off for over 10 years and reversed the adverse conditions. You see, I know what it’s like to be in your shoes. I know what you are going through. Who better to coach you than someone who faced the challenges you have and has beaten them.
Most approaches to healthy eating dwell on calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, I coach my clients to explore basic improvements and implement gradual changes during our work together. As these pieces accumulate, my clients find these changes collectively creating a much larger impact than they originally anticipated. We work on what they want to improve within the circumstances of their unique situation.
“Prior to meeting Wally, I was that proverbial “heart attack waiting to happen” guy. I was a typical
meat and potato guy, overweight, diabetic (Type II), constant joint pain/inflammation, gout attacks, high cholesterol and triglycerides (even on meds, and high blood pressure (controlled by meds).
Working with Wally these past 6 months, I switched to a plant-based diet. I had just begun looking into it prior to working with Wally, but I wasn’t 100% on board at the time; now it’s my lifestyle. I’ve managed to keep my blood pressure in the normal range now without medication (last reading 122/72) and cut my glucose medication by half (working on eliminating that) while lowering my glucose readings by 30 points. I’ve lost over 20 lbs. on top of the 10 initially lost and rarely have any inflammation issues.
Over the years I’ve been told numerous times by several doctors that I’ll probably have to take meds the rest of my life. With Wally’s help, my latest triglyceride blood work came in at 77; I’m in normal range for the 1st time in 17 years! My cholesterol has also dropped over 60 points as well.

“I’m almost 54 years old and stay in pretty good shape by cycling, hiking, and some running. In February 2020, I began training for my first full IRONMAN to be held in September. Before then, I didn’t pay much attention to detail in what I ate. I did not eat horribly – very little fried food, no soft drinks, lean meat, veggies, fruit, eggs, fish. When I started training more regularly, I was dealing with some muscle pain, mostly my calves, and this continued for quite a while.
I was a carnivore and love meat, any meat, and drank probably two gallons of milk a week. After repeated suggestions from my wife, I finally agreed to watch the 2018 documentary “The Game Changers”. Well, the film screwed me up. I thought well, maybe I should try this plant-based diet, for health impact as well as for training. So, in late March, I started playing around with it, but I was playing.
One piece of the puzzle I didn’t have was nutrition and I didn’t want to spend a ton of time in trial and error to figure it out. Further, I wasn’t going to invest 6-7 months in all this physical training only to let something simple like nutrition crash my effort on the big day. So, I decided to find someone that could help me put something together.
I met Wally through cycling and had talked to him a few times about nutrition in general. Wally taught me simple and straightforward ways to manage proper nutrition for every day – off day, training day, race day, any day. I have no patience for meal plans… eat A for breakfast Mon, Wed, Fri and B for lunch Tue and Thu, etc. It’s too complicated for someone on the go or traveling. Wally gives you a simple understanding of what your body needs and what kind of foods give it to you - foods that you can find almost anywhere.
The additional benefit to all of this was that my muscle-aches were dramatically reduced or eliminated, so much more than through consistent training alone. My recovery time after a hard workout or event was noticeably reduced.
I am much healthier, and my body is so much more ready to accept whatever I decide to throw at it. While my IRONMAN in Chattanooga has been postponed to 2021, my training continues.
